Building people rapport in 4 easy steps

Some of us are very good at winning the admiration and affection of people around. Truly, this is what can be termed as rapport building. In the growth and development of any institution, everyone linked with has an important role to play.

Rapport building is absolutely an act in itself. People like to help those whom they like. It all starts with building rapport. Establish a habit of smiling and acknowledging your relationship. Your life will turn a lot smoother if people like you.

Be smiling, people rush to you. A smile is contagious. It is an inexpensive way to improve looks.
Whom do you like to approach when you need some clarification - a person who is frowning or one who has a smile on his face? Smile is an essential ingredient of success in one's life.

Mostly your false ego is responsible for breaking rapport than any other behaviour. Remember, false ego is a sign of low self worth.

Each one is an important person. When you interact with somebody, allow them to feel important. Designate them with appropriate responsibility. Show genuine appreciation for their contribution.

Be a good listener. Listen to other's feelings and not just words.

Show enthusiasm in every move you make. Get excited about life. Water turns into steam with a difference of only one degree in temperature. But steam can move some of the biggest engines in the world.

Why the musings?

30 years is a long time..... And a jolly good one too ....considering it was well spent in a field like education. And it is still going on....Adding onto the rich repertoire of experiences, ideas, thoughts, etc all translating to one long past that being back great memories everytime I look back upon the years passed by.

This blog is an attempt to record all my musings over the last 30 years into format that can be read, enjoyed and revisited by not just me, but the thousands of students and teachers who are today in different walks of life rendering yeoman service to mankind. It is also intended to serve as a diary from which future generation of teachers, students and educationists alike can relate to these musings, draw upon these experiences, and make the world a better place to live in.

So here starts my musings - The recollection of 30 years of life as a school teacher, college lecturer, central school (CBSE) principal and an eminent educationist in South India.
